{"id":262,"date":"2020-08-16T11:04:04","date_gmt":"2020-08-16T11:04:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/uptbahasa.ulm.ac.id\/?page_id=262"},"modified":"2026-01-29T03:28:05","modified_gmt":"2026-01-29T03:28:05","slug":"profile-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/upabahasa.ulm.ac.id\/en\/profile-2\/","title":{"rendered":"PROFILE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Language Center (UPA Bahasa ULM) is a technical implementation unit of Lambung Mangkurat University that manages TOEFL testing services, TOEFL training, academic writing, language seminars\/webinars, public speaking training, BIPA (Indonesian for Foreign Speakers) training, and other language-related training. Our location is directly behind the Rectorate Building of Lambung Mangkurat University and next to the ULM library. We serve a variety of language-related needs, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>TOEFL Prediction Test\/English Proficiency Test<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>UPA Bahasa administers the EPT test as a requirement for ULM students to graduate, including for exams, graduation ceremonies, and graduation ceremonies. The EPT is also sometimes a requirement for job applications at various agencies and companies in Indonesia. Furthermore, the EPT can sometimes be submitted for further studies (Master's or scholarships) as long as the agency or program in question accepts the EPT. The EPT is also often used as a requirement for civil servant candidates (CPNS) in several government agencies\/departments. The EPT test can be conducted both offline and online. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>TOEFL ITP test<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; UPA Bahasa ULM has collaborated with ETS\/IIEF to organize the TOEFL ITP test. TOEFL ITP is a Paper Based TOEFL Test with an official license from America as the official TOEFL certificate issuer. ITP is used for Scholarship\/Scholarship purposes both domestically and abroad such as LPDP, Unggulan, Fulbright, Australian Award (ASS), and other scholarships. In addition, TOEFL ITP is also used to apply for jobs in many government agencies or companies. TOEFL ITP is held at UPA Bahasa ULM offline. TOEFL ITP tests are only held once a month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>TOEFL Training\/TOEFL Preparation Course.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>UPA Bahasa ULM provides TOEFL training services for students and the general public. TOEFL training sessions at UPA Bahasa ULM are held at various meeting times, depending on participant requests or those determined directly by UPA Bahasa ULM. The TOEFL training instructors\/tutors are also from the ULM English Language Education Study Program, who are experienced in teaching English, particularly the TOEFL Course, and possess high credibility in teaching TOEFL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>English\/Indonesian Conversation Training<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; UPA Bahasa ULM provides English\/Indonesian conversation training for students, ULM academics, and the general public. This conversation training is intended to facilitate participants' use of English in everyday conversations. UPA Bahasa ULM has even held several such conversation training sessions for students, academics, and even companies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>MC, Moderator and Public Speaking Training<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; UPA Bahasa ULM also provides training for Master of Ceremonies (MCs), moderators, and public speakers for students, academics, and the general public. In this training, UPA Bahasa is assisted by lecturers from the Language and Arts Department, who are highly experienced in training participants to become MCs, moderators, and orators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>BIPA (Bahasa Indonesia untuk Penutur Asing) Training.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; It is undeniable that the numerous collaborations between ULM and other universities abroad have led to a large number of foreign students studying at ULM, thus necessitating the need for Indonesian language training for foreign speakers. In this regard, the ULM Language and Education Unit (UPA Bahasa) also provides Indonesian language training services for foreign speakers. These BIPA teachers come from the Department of Language and Arts Education, FKIP ULM. In 2019, UPA Bahasa ULM successfully held BIPA training for 7 foreign students studying at FKIP and FEB ULM. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"7\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Journal writing training\/Academic Writing.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Language Center of ULM has also successfully conducted several training sessions on journal writing or academic writing. These workshops aim to hone and train participants in writing scientific papers. This training is particularly useful for students and lecturers who wish to write research journals. In this regard, the Language Center Department is assisted by lecturers from the Language and Arts Department as tutors and trainers. These lecturers have extensive scientific work and are highly experienced in scientific journal writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"8\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>English proofreading of research abstracts, scientific journals, or other documents.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Proofreading is the activity of checking the grammar of a journal, article, or abstract. English proofreading involves checking the grammar, punctuation, and formatting of a scientific paper written in English. UPA Bahasa ULM provides this proofreading service for students, academics, lecturers, and the general public. Our proofreading is fast and precise, carried out by highly skilled translators\/translators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"9\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Translate abstracts, diplomas, transcripts, scientific journals, or other documents.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to proofreading, UPA Bahasa ULM also provides translation services for abstracts, transcripts, diplomas, scientific journals, and other documents. Our translation process also includes proofreading of the documents used. The document translation are in Indonesian, so UPA Bahasa translate from Indonesian into English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"10\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Language Seminars\/Webinar Organizer.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>UPA Bahasa ULM also works as an organizer of language seminars\/webinars. Since 2019, UPA Bahasa has organized many seminars and webinars. In that year, UPA Bahasa successfully held a seminar on the topic \"The Resilience of Banjar Language and Literature in the 4.0 Era\" which was held at the Best Western Hotel Banjarmasin. In addition to seminars, UPA Bahasa ULM also successfully held a series of language webinars with topics ranging from BIPA Teaching, English research methodology, to discussions on research during the Covid-19 pandemic. The presenters or speakers in all seminars or webinars that have been held by UPA Bahasa ULM also come from various regions and educational backgrounds, of course they are very expert people in their fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"11\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Self-Access Center Provider.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>UPA Bahasa ULM also provides a dedicated Self-Study Center for ULM students, academics, and the general public who wish to study independently. The UPA Bahasa ULM has a wealth of textbooks and other reading materials that are freely accessible and readable by anyone visiting the UPA Bahasa ULM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>OUR UNIT IS LEADERED BY Dr. Hj. EPT juga kadang menjadi syarat melamar pekerjaan di berbagai instansi atau perusahaan di Indonesia. Selain itu, EPT juga kadang bisa dilampirkan untuk mendaftar sekolah lanjut (S2 atau beasiswa) asalkan instansi atau program yang dituju menerima EPT. EPT juga biasanya dijadikan salah satu syarat CPNS di beberapa instansi\/dinas pemerintahan. Kegiatan tes EPT bisa dilaksanakan secara offline maupun online. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; UPA Bahasa ULM telah menjalin kerjasama dengan ETS\/IIEF untuk penyelenggaraan TOEFL ITP tes.
